Romancing the Earth

Fall mornings are like no other
The sun is on its knees
Begging Mother not to go into hiding
Stroking her gently to wake her
And keep her alert lest the Winter steals her smile
Fall sunrises remind me of an apology
Mother says I am sorry I have to go
And the sun adorns her with the fire spectrum to remind her
That together they do make beauty
Mother sheds tears and says it’s too late
The Summer has already given her all the heat she needed
And passion may come disguised in the dark Winter
But she’ll be quiet and she’ll be still
But the Sun says please
And she says I have no choice
